Homemade Scented Candles:
The Best Are Still Homemade

When a candlemaker gets too big, he or she loses the perspective and the advantage that got them where they are: they lose their ability to call their product homemade.

Or, more precisely, when they decide to cut corners and only put in 7% oil or 8% oil - that's a big savings in the per unit cost to make a candle - which leaves them with more money for themselves.

Somewhere along the way, they forgot that hand-pouring the candles - mixing the ingredients just as you would any good recipe - is what results in a superior, long-burning, clean-burning and totally aromatic candle.

And, knowing just the right amount of essential oil to add, at just the right time and at the right temperature so the molecules bond properly - ah, there is an "old-world" skill in that.

And not too many candlemakers can say that nowadays - not if they still truthfully follow those steps in making their candles.
